Social Impact Leaders — Interview w/ Lambert O Egbuchulam

Lambert is an Innovator and Thought Leader from Long Island, NY. He grew up with small business owners as parents. His dad, Sr., owned his own Architectural business and his mom a Daycare. As a child, he always felt “small” in every social situation. He started putting himself out there more to build value for himself and find his voice. This is difficult to do in a world where everyone strives to be different, but he believes it’s important. No one taught him its importance. Instead fitting in was the theme throughout his life. If he can influence fellow “little guys” to collectively find their “voice” this will create meaning to him, for them, in a society where it’s rewarded.

Social Impact — What meaning do you personally associate with this term?

Social impact is the ability to change people’s perspective on the way things are looked at in society. Social impact can be negative or positive, but its foundation involves transforming outlook.

Social Responsibility — What is your best practice to integrate it into your daily life?

My best practice is to treat all people with respect and patience. To create positive impact, it involves having both for people.

Purchasing Power — What is it all about, and why is it real power?

Purchasing Power is the ability of people to advocate in buying products and services due to their combined pool of personal influence and $$$. This power is real because it dictates where the markets shift.

Conscious Living — Why is it important to live our life consciously? And how do our actions influence and affect each other, and therefore connect us?

It is important to live life consciously because every action has consequences. Some unintended, so it’s important to be aware of the impact of behavior. Behavior can influence people to behave the same way, even if destructive. People naturally like to imitate what they see, even if they don’t know why. This is called the “Mirroring”. So we are connected beyond our conscious mind, which is why it’s important to remain conscious daily. Be aware!

Conscious Consumerism — Why, now more than ever, it is important to reflect on our buying habits, and research the brands we are consuming?

It’s more important now because you hear stories of what big brands are doing in the name of capitalism. As focus changes towards transparency and more access to company reports, online, there’s increased effort from companies to cover up ‘blemishes’. Therefore, it’s very important for consumers to be super aware of what they are actually consuming.

Commercial — From your point of view, what are the commercial practices that are unhealthy to humanity?

Spray and Pray Advertising I believe is very unhealthy to humanity because it waters down the value of business marketing. It makes hard to want to see advertisement, even when it’s helpful. It also drowns out the “little guys” who may not have the budget for a successful ‘spray and pay’ campaign, causing growth stunting or figuring out tougher work arounds. All the platforms businesses use to advertise, i.e FB, Google, Yelp, etc., all promote ‘spray and pay’ because it brings in the most $$$. But they’re not giving businesses the intrinsic value they will need.

The Future — What is your personal outlook on the future?

I believe the future would be full of innovative concepts that will help people in unique ways. People would have more opportunities to express their ideas

Change — What do you personally think needs to change — from a consumer perspective and within the corporate world?

The way we think about advertising. If people responded to ads better, it would stimulate our economy because people would want to buy more products and services. If businesses had better ways to advertise, it would prompt more people to respond better to buy products and services.

Is there anything you would like to share that we have not asked you here?

I am the founder of BAU — an online community of small businesses that collaborate together to better advertise their products and services. BAU is a ‘P2P marketing platform’, where businesses can work for $$$ to advertise each other through their content.

Let’s take this scenario: You own a small business and a customer comes in asking for your recommendation on a good place to buy dinner. You make a recommendation on a place of business.

BAU helps local businesses monetize on these B2C or B2B “recommendations” to advertise organically.

Our platform builds on P2P marketing, which is what created the value of cryptocurrency.

So my idea is using p2p marketing for small businesses, to build up the value of other small businesses alike.

THANK YOU!

Demee Koch about the MEDIUM interview series on Social Impact:

Hello! I am a serial entrepreneur practising conscious entrepreneurship. This is an interview series about social responsibility and the best practices in incorporating it into our daily lives.

Every day, we make an impact consciously and subconsciously. It is implemented through our actions.

A great example of this is the practice of our Purchasing Power where we can actually direct our impact by consciously deciding which brands and companies we nourish.

I interview change advocates about best practices for incorporating social consciousness into our daily lives, and practices in the business world that need to change for the benefit of social responsibility.

With this interview, we invite the reader to reflect their every day actions. We all have an impact, and if we are consciously aware of that, we can be empowered to start the change for a better future.

Thank you for being the change. I’m looking forward to learn from each one of you. Reach out to me via LinkedIn.
