Conscious Entrepreneurship: May I introduce Sumit Agarwal
Sumit Agarwal is not supposed to be alive today. He was born with Cerebral Palsy, with 70 percent movement restriction. He had to go through 4 surgeries, each one more difficult than the last. But, that’s where his fascination with relationships was born.
Growing up, he was isolated, and the people he was closest to were the doctors and nurses in the hospital. Through observation, he realized we’re all looking to create impact. On your deathbed, he says, all you can want is the people you’ve touched. That’s how his journey with public relations began. Human beings, what drives them, and how to forge the relationships that matter. That’s what he do with his public relations firm, PR Signal.
CONSCIOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP — What meaning do you give this term?
Two words: Sustained impact
CAREER — What led you to your particular career path?
Understanding human beings, what drive them, and intersection of media, and brand messaging.
I believe, now, more than ever, Public Relations is an key and integral tool for any brand to amplify their message globally.
I’m eager to see how far and how much it evolves in the decades to come.
MENTORS — We all need a little help along the journey. Who has been an invaluable mentor for you? Can you share a story about how they made an impact?
Houston Golden: The Founder of BAMF. He created 1000s of influencers and amplified their voices through Linkedin. His books taught me that being vulnerable can be your biggest strength.
TO THRIVE — When you see yourself thriving: Do you see yourself opening up opportunities for others along the way to participate in your success, and how?
I am soon starting a podcast to provide deep insights into PR for startups. I am also starting a membership club to improve Linkedin content.
CAUSE — What are the causes close to your heart, and you are supporting right now? Can you share a story how you got involved? How did it make you feel?
In my free time, I’m involved with organizations to help persons with disabilities find opportunities for themselves. I am also the President of Rotary Club Of Saltlake. Giving back is a different kind of joy which can’t be expressed in words.
THE FUTURE — How do you see the face of entrepreneurship in 5 years? How do companies /brands need to adapt to secure their place in the future?
The future is too volatile. A 5 year prediction is usually very dystopian. However, personal brand and more content along with relatable context is the way to move forward.
ADVICE — What kind of advice would you like to give to an aspiring entrepreneur who feels limited due to their background or lack of resources?
Read a book called the 100$ Startup
DRIVE — Do you sometimes feel bad for “wanting more out of life”, and if so, why? What is your personal motivation that leads you through the hardships of entrepreneurship?
I don’t feel bad. You should always want more. Wanting more helps you excel. Being static offers no innovation
CHALLENGES — Entrepreneurship is very challenging. We each have our own coping mechanism. Mine is humor. What is yours? Can you share a story?
“What fascinates me is our ability to drive the world towards a better tomorrow”
No matter your present circumstances
No matter your abilities
No matter your battles
No matter your scars
You can always push the world towards a better tomorrow.
The smiles of others always tend to give you more happiness than your own smile.
INSPIRATION — Is there an entrepreneurial book or podcast that inspires you that you would like to share with our readers?
The money tree is a great book
YOU — Is there anything you would like to share that we have not asked you here?
What’s the least balanced thing in the world?
No
it’s not the leaning tower of Pisa.
It’s work-life balance.
Often goals are targeted in terms of money.
“I want to earn $100,000 a year”
Very few people say
“I want to work just 4 hours a week”
And then spend doing the rest of the time doing what I love.
THANK YOU!

Demee Koch about the MEDIUM interview series on CONSCIOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP:
Conscious entrepreneurship for me is about building a sustainable business that values and respects the resources used and makes an effort of giving back to society.
I believe we need entrepreneurs to really get involved in the causes close to their heart.
This is why I reach out to entrepreneurs that aim for more than generating profit. With this interview, I aim to share entrepreneurial purpose-led passion to inspire others.
Looking forward to learn from you. Reach out to me via LinkedIn.
