Conscious Beauty And Beautiful Minds: Interview w/ Tamara Loehr

Tamara Loehr is an animal and nature lover, mother of 2 and global Wellnesspreneur, driven by social impact. Tamara produces and supports ethical beauty and wellness products that are female founded and give back.

Whilst most of her products are sold direct to consumer online, Tamara is also a regular guest on TV including home shopping and as a spokesperson for female founders in the industry. Tamara is also a proud member of YPO Hollywood (Young Presidents Organisation).

After 25 years in business, Tamara’s latest project, Beusail, is all about bridging the gap for female indie brands, whilst creating a marketplace that stands for business is a force for good.

What was the first beauty routine you adopted as a child or teenager? Which emotions do you connect with this memory?

Growing up in a remote area, I didn’t have access to a lot of products so I was always experimenting with natural remedies and potions. With the beautiful raw ingredients available in Australia, the creations I could make were endless.

As a creative, I often preferred to draw then go hang out at the shops with friends. I loved to make things with my hands. At the time I considered myself a ‘black sheep’ but looking back, this was the start of my entrepreneurial traits.

CONSCIOUS BEAUTY — What meaning do you give this term?

Conscious beauty means different things to different people which is why I set out to define this as part of my mandate for Beusail. Beusail is an ancient Gaelic word meaning ethical, moral, of good deed and intent. Beusail definition of ethical and conscious beauty is vegan, cruelty free, eco-luxe, clean, local produced, committed to zero waste and gives back.

Beusail encourages conscious customers to make the switch from unethical brands to those that are female founded and give back.

Which aspects of sustainability in beauty are especially important to you?

I believe sustainability is a journey, not a destination. Beusail approaches every aspect of the business; from production to packaging, their people to their impact projects; as part of the company’s sustainable practices. The industry cannot simply look at how sustainable a physical product is. We need to look at it holistically.

I believe the most sustainable brands with be those that stand for profit and purpose, with sustainability as its compass.

When do you consciously feel beautiful?

When I am being beautiful to myself, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Did your approach to beauty change within the last 1–2 years?

Not only are we at Beusail constantly striving to exceed industry standards, but we are reinventing the way beauty is being purchased. Beusail’s new co-selling feature will change the way people buy beauty, whilst raising up the women who support it.

With 4 clicks of a buttons, you can start co-selling Beusail products in under 2 minutes.

Beusail’s co-selling gives anyone passionate about their products and mission the ability to start generating revenue. Our co-selling feature earns the co-seller up to 30% commission with every sale. These customers are also tagged to them, so they make money on repeat sales. This is a great way for them to start building up recurring revenue.

Our intention behind co-selling is to help more women become their own boss. A major obstacle for women getting started in business is the barriers like the capital needed and infrastructure to get started. Co-selling with Beusail, however, requires no capital, inventory or products to buy.

We believe this is an industry game changer.

How would you like to see the image of beauty change within the next 5 years?

We believe conscious customers will drive the change.

I believe consumers’ purchasing power alone has the ability to change the industry and make a positive impact on the world in the process.

At Beusail, we have curated the best-in-class ethical beauty and wellness products to make it easy for them to make the switch.

Beusail is on a missing to do two things:

1) Support 10,000 female indie brands and help bridge the gap (the beauty industry is predominately owned by men).

2) Generate 10M impacts per year to the United Nations Sustainability Goals with giving embedded in every product we sell.

What or who inspires your beauty routine?

To be honest, it’s my lack of time that drives my routine. Being an entrepreneur and mom, I guard my time. I certainly don’t have time (nor inclination) for 6-step regimes.

I believe the industry has become far too confusing and complicated.

I am always striving to simplify the process for myself. In fact, all my products were created based on my own personal needs and wants. I set a goal of what I am trying to target (eg. fine lines) and then I create 1 product to fix it.

This is where I learnt that in order to simplify the routine, you must invest in quality ingredients and pair this with green science.

This gives me elevated results without all the fuss. Plus it doesn’t need to cost the earth (literally).

What is your best beauty advice to others?

My best beauty tip is to couple inner and outer beauty. Every steps I do on the outside I marry up with something I do in the inside.

For example, when I wake in the morning I apply Luinich CBD oil. Then I have a Marz gut health shake.

I got into the habit of coupling inner and outer beauty in my 40s. Now I wear less makeup and spend way less time in the bathroom than in my 30s. My skin is clearer so it doesn’t need it and my hair is healthier so it’s effortless to style.

The second tip I give is to make it multi-functional.

For example, I don’t just use an ethical face cream at night. I use Luinich that couples it with CBD to harness the additional powers of cannabinoids. I don’t just have any protein shake in the morning. I drink a Marz shake that is high in protein, is good for the gut with pre and probiotics, plus it contains all your daily vitamin requirements.

This is why I have both beauty and wellness brands.

Is there anything you would like to share that we have not asked you here?

If you are wanting to be more conscious when you buy beauty, here are my simple steps to follow:

1) BUY Ethical products

2) SUPPORT female founded brands

3) GIVE BACK through the UN SDGs.

THANK YOU!
